The Confederation Frigate was a Terran Confederation capital starship in the Wing Commander universe. The first appearance of these frigates was in the computer game Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger.

The Southampton-class Destroyers, a smaller variant of these frigates, were also widely used by the Confederation. These frigates were seen once in Wing Commander III.
Although not as well equipped as the newer Kilrathi Heavy Destroyers, the Confederation frigates were more than enough to face off against small Kilrathi capital ships. Most of the time, these frigates were assigned carrier task force escorts. These frigates were equipped with nine heavy laser turrets for both defense against enemy starfighters and fire-fights against Kilrathi destroyers or smaller capital ships. They were also equipped with a missile payload that included two Friend or Foe missiles. Compared to the destroyer variant, this frigates were much larger and more heavily equipped.
The one frigate seen in WC3 was the one that transported Brigadier General James Taggart to the TCS Victory prior to the Temblor Bomb attack on Kilrah.
Behind the Scenes[]
This frigate was originally supposed to have the design of WC4's Caernaven-class Frigate. However, that design was not used until WC4 for unexplained reasons, so this Frigate took on the design of the Southampton-class Destroyer also seen in WC3.
