About
Edit
The Tiger's Claw is a Bengal class carrier with a fighter complement of 104 craft. She was commissioned in 2644. The Tiger's Claw is the first of the Flight IIA Bengal-class carriers. Tiger's Claw was 700 meters long, ten meters longer than subsequent Flight IIA ships.
Tiger's Claw is especially notable for being the first carrier that Confederation war hero Colonel Christopher Blair served on during his career (though he served on two combatants, the destroyer Formidable and the heavy cruiser Waterloo, beforehand). During his two years on Tiger's Claw, Blair advanced rapidly through the ranks from a fresh cadet to squadron commander; he was preparing to take over as Wing Commander when the ship was destroyed in 2656, sidetracking his career for almost a decade.
The Tiger's Claw fought in several of the most important battles of the Kilrathi War. It fought in the Vega Sector and thanks to Christopher Blair, it succeeded in taking that sector. It also destroyed the KIS Sivar after that vessel exterminated the human colony on Goddard in 2654. Finally, it defended the planet Firekka in 2655 when that planet and the native Firekkans joined the Terran Confederation.
The class would receive a severe blow to its prestige in 2656 when Tiger's Claw was destroyed in a Kilrathi sneak attack by their newly developed cloak starfighters in the Enigma sector while on approach to the Kilrathi starbase at K'tithrak Mang.

Wing Commander film
Edit
In the Wing Commander (film), the Tiger's Claw was designated CSS Tiger Claw instead of the TCS Tiger's Claw. The term CSS has a more historical background because it was used by the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Not much technical information is known of the CSS Tiger Claw. The film's ship design is much different from the game's ship design of the Tiger's Claw.
In the film, Lieutenant Junior Grade Christopher Blair, Commodore James Taggart, and Blair's fellow graduate, Todd "Maniac" Marshall, are assigned to the CSS Tiger's Claw by Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn. There, he meets with his Wing Commander, Jeannette Devereaux.

Wing Commander Academy
Edit
The TCS Tiger's Claw was also seen in the animated television series Wing Commander Academy. Although the ship looks similar to the game's version of the Tiger's Claw, there are minor differences, mainly the flight deck locations. This Tiger's Claw was equipped with thirty five dual-laser turrets, six triple-laser turrets and a single-laser turret cannon. Commodore Geoffrey Tolwyn was in command of the Tiger's Claw in the television series.
The television series takes place in the year 2655, during the early years of Christopher Blair's career as a Confed cadet. He is joined along with fellow cadets Todd "Maniac" Marshall and Gwen "Archer" Bowman. Together, they fly on dangerous missions assigned by Commodore Geoffrey Tolwyn from the TCS Tiger's Claw.
