|Waterloo-class Heavy Cruiser|
|Weapons||Flak Cannons (3), Anti-Matter Guns (4)|
|First appearance||Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi|
The Waterloo-class Cruisers served as the Confederation Fleet's primary heavy cruiser.
Besides providing escort for the mainstay fleet carriers, Waterloo-class Cruisers also serve as flagships for smaller task forces which do not involve larger carriers. They had a hangar bay capable of carrying forty starfighters, and had two exposed runways similar to those of the TCS Concordia. They were armed with three flak cannons and four Anti-Matter Guns, making them a fairly large threat to enemy vessels. There were also ships of this class that served as prison ships.
One notable Waterloo was the TCS Gettysburg. During the year 2667, the vessel was sent to the N'Tanya system, where Kilrathi rebels were attempting to join the Terran Confederation. When transports carrying the Kilrathi Imperial Guard, who were still loyal to the Emperor, fled on unarmed transports, the ship's commander, Commodore Cain, ordered his pilots to destroy them. This was an illegal order, prompting the pilots to turn on Cain, causing a mutiny among the crew. The crew of the Gettysburg fled and fired on human vessels in fear of arrest, and some of the ship's more aggressive commanders attacked the Rigel Supply Depot in the Rigel system. The depot's crew was slaughtered and it became a rebel base. However, Christopher Blair of the Concordia intercepted the Gettysburg and its pilots, informing them that Confed knew what they were doing and was ready to pardon them, since their commander did not act appropriately. Blair and some of the Gettysburg pilots, flying prototypes of the new YA-18 Crossbow Bombers, attacked the Rigel Supply Depot and were forced to destroy it when the commanders threatened to fire on unsuspecting convoys. Fortunately, the Gettysburg came back in one piece with its whole crew pardoned, except for Cain., who was court-martialed. One of the pilots of the Gettysburg was Jason Bondarevsky. The vessel later fought at Vukar Tag.
Other notable vessels included the TCS Centurion and the TCS Leningrad, which was destroyed in 2655 by the KIS Ras Nik'hra, Ralgha nar Hhallas' former flagship. The incident took the lives of 500 Confed naval men.
The Waterloo-class Cruisers served at least until the Battle of Earth in 2668, but probably served longer until being outclassed by newer vessels.
